Cody Smith grew up in Wall Township and in his youth he was involved in community activities which solidified his hometown pride. %t the Wall Youth Center, he participated in various programs including hockey. w hid) is w here his lifelong love for the sport began.

In high school, Cody was a member of the 2002 %%all Knights Stale Championship Football lean and after graduating in 2004 Cody set his sights on law enforcement. lie graduated from the Monmouth County Police Academy in 2007 and worked as a police officer for carious agencies throughout New Jersey until his retirement in 2023.

During his time as a police officer, Cody worked around the clock to organize fundraisers for community members, and fellow officers.  Since returning to Wall in 2020, Cody has continued his involvement with the Wall community. Codie has created and managed a youth hockey recreation program that he runs oseekl) from the spring through fall. In addition to the youth hockey program. he created and oversees the town’s adult roller hockey league.
Cody is a member of the Community Alliance Board and is active with the Recreation Board as well.

Cody married his wife in 2014 and they have three children. In his spare time he enjoys playing roller hockey and spending time with his family. Cods is a huge Devils fan. and goes to games with his oldest son often.

 

Tom Shields is a career educator and lifelong resident of Wall Township, NJ, where he serves on the planning board and rent control board. During his 15 year career in education, Tom has secured grants to send his students to the Broadway play Hamilton, and has directed workshops for high schoolers based on history and heritage months.

In 2021, with the help of the Belmar City Council, the town historian, and mayor’s office, he coordinated a wreath laying ceremony in honor of the famed Negro Leaguers who graced Belmar’s Memorial Field in the 1930s. In the summer, he works as a Monmouth County Park Ranger.

In his spare time, Tom serves on the Allaire Village Board of Trustees. He likes to fish, bird-watch, hunt, play the piano, golf, and tour various historical sites across the country. He co-authored a children’s book in 2021.
